Anxiety is the No. 1 mental health problem in the U.S. You are not alone! I am creating this group because I have not been able to find one in the Montgomery County area. I envision a regular meeting for people to share their experience with anxiety, learn coping techniques, make friends and plan social outings. Anxiety disorders include panic, OCD, phobias and social anxiety. Depression often co-occurs.
Many people struggle with anxiety and overwhelming stress every day of their lives. The therapists in my practice so often see the destructive effects anxiety can have. Everyone deserves to have a friend and this group is meant to help shy or anxiety-full young adults (in their 20s and 30s) from the northern Washington suburbs (Potomac, Rockville, Chevy Chase) to make friends thru meetups for drinks and conversations (perhaps more and different events down the road). Please don't hesitate to join if you are in your twenties and thirties and are struggling, for whatever reason, in finding a friend.
